Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments

Clarity, Compassion & Confidence in Understanding Autism

If you’ve ever wondered whether your child—or even you yourself—might be on the autism spectrum, you’re not alone.
Living with uncertainty can feel overwhelming: you see unique patterns in communication, attention, or emotional regulation, but can’t quite connect the dots. Our Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments help families replace uncertainty with understanding.

At Creative Sky Psychology, our team provides warm, comprehensive, and evidence-based ASD assessments for children, teens, and emerging adults. We combine clinical expertise with sensitivity, creating a process that feels safe, supportive, and empowering for both parents and youth.

Why an Autism Assessment Matters

Autism affects approximately 1 in 44 children in Canada, and many individuals reach adolescence or adulthood without a diagnosis. An accurate, compassionate assessment opens doors to the right supports—academic accommodations, social-skills programming, or targeted therapy.

Our Calgary psychologists help families:

  • Gain clarity about developmental, emotional, and sensory profiles.

  • Access tailored recommendations for home and school.

  • Identify co-occurring concerns like ADHD, anxiety, or learning differences.

  • Receive a report that focuses on strengths and real-life strategies, not just labels.

You can also build on your results with Parent Counselling, Child Therapy, or Executive Skills Training / ADHD Coaching.

Our Assessment Process

Every ASD assessment at Creative Sky Psychology is customized to fit the child and family. Below is a typical outline of our approach.

Intake Session: We begin by reviewing consent, exploring developmental history, and identifying the specific questions your family hopes to answer.

Standardized Testing: We use gold-standard tools such as:

  • Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R): a detailed parent-caregiver interview exploring development, communication, and play.

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2): an interactive assessment observing social interaction and communication.

Cognitive Assessment (Optional): While not always required, a cognitive or IQ assessment can clarify learning style and problem-solving approaches—useful for individualized recommendations.

Social and Emotional Functioning: We gather additional insight through rating scales, interviews, and observations to understand emotional regulation, attention, and executive functioning.

Feedback Session & Report: You’ll receive a comprehensive, strength-based report and meet with your psychologist to review results, priorities, and next steps for school and home supports.
