FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of therapy does Creative Sky Psychology Provide? At Creative Sky Psychology, we work with all ages, children, teens, adults and parents. We take a specialised approach to therapy, rather than a general counselling approach. Our Psychologists work within their areas of expertise, allowing for a tailored approach. This specialised approach helps our psychologists focus on the individual's strengths, goals, and learning style. Children often benefit from Art or Play Therapy techniques as well as Emotion Regulation Support, Social Skill Development, and Executive Functioning Strategies. Teenagers and adults tend to benefit most from a combined approach which may involve aspects of talk therapy including; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Exposure Therapy. Parenting sessions are also beneficial in supporting your child's growth, as a change in the family system can create new opportunities for positive change.

Do I need to be referred to be seen by a Psychologist? A referral is not required to acquire counselling and/or assessment services. However, some families may receive a referral from their paediatrician, family doctor or educational staff.

How do I book an appointment? We utilize an online booking system, specifically for counselling services, where you can access our psychologists availability. To access this online booking system please refer to our "Book Online" page. If you are interested in gathering more information about an assessment or hoping to book an assessment, please contact Meghan Mak or Ashley Gobin via email. Meghan Mak: mmak@nupsychology.com Ashley Gobin: agobin@nupsychology.com

What can I expect to happen in the first session? The first session involves gathering information, creating a relationship, and establishing how we can best work together to create goals and healthy changes. Therapy is a dynamic process and evolves with ongoing sessions. Clients can expect to learn more about themselves, process experiences, and learn how to move through emotion regulation states with awareness. Often we brainstorm strategies that are aligned with client's challenges, strengths, and goals.

Does Creative Sky Psychology offer virtual or phone sessions? Yes, we do offer video or phone sessions. However, in-person sessions are preferred especially for children and teenagers.

What is the cost per hour? Our hourly rate if you are working with a Registered or Provisionally Registered Psychologist is $220/hr.

How do I know if my insurance covers these services? Please contact your insurance plan provider regarding Psychology coverage limits, coverage, and any other potential limitations. Psychology Services are considered a medical expense when insurance does not cover expenses.

Do you do Direct Billing? No, we do not do direct billing. However, payments are made on the online booking system. Once the payment has been made, you will be emailed an invoice for your records and to submit to your insurance provider.
