Our Story
It Began With One Room and One Big Belief.
Creative Sky Psychology began with a simple belief: connection comes before correction. Lasting change happens when children feel safe, understood, and genuinely seen. By combining strengths-based care with evidence-based therapy, we help children and families build the confidence and skills they need to thrive. That belief shaped our first therapy room—and it continues to guide everything we do today.
Who We Are
A Different Kind of Child Psychology Clinic.
Creative Sky Psychology is a Calgary child psychology clinic for children, teens, and families — but from the very beginning, we've done things a little differently. Instead of leading with what's "wrong," we lead with what's strong, meeting each child through their interests, their play, and their imagination.
Under one roof, our Calgary child psychologists offer the full range of support a growing child might need: child, teen, and preschool therapy; play, art, narrative, and behaviour therapy; family therapy, parent counselling, and parent-child work; and comprehensive assessments for ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, giftedness, and more. Whatever brings a family to us — anxiety, OCD, big emotions, school refusal, or simply a child who hasn't seemed themselves — there's a good chance we can help.
Every one of those services is grounded in evidence-based, strengths-first care. We draw on proven approaches — from cognitive behavioural therapy and play-based work to narrative and attachment-focused methods — and tailor them to the individual child, always delivered with warmth. Because we believe children are never the problem, that behaviour is communication, and that connection comes before correction.
The Beginning
It Started With Shannon.
Creative Sky began with Shannon Kelly and a simple vision — to work with children in a way that puts their strengths and passions first. Rather than focusing only on challenges, Shannon used what each child already loved — art, play, problem-solving — to help them build emotional regulation, social skills, and real resilience.
An artist and photographer long before she became a psychologist, Shannon has always brought creativity into everything — in fact, every piece of artwork on our walls is hers. Today she also leads workshops for parents and professionals, and trains provisional psychologists to carry strength-based strategies well beyond the therapy room. Her humour and warmth still set the tone for the whole clinic.
How We Grew
From One Room to Two Buildings.
The very first Creative Sky was a single office — until noise complaints from the neighbouring tenants made it clear it was time for a little more space.
No one is really sure whether the complaints were about Shannon, or the children.
Today, Creative Sky Psychology has two buildings side by side, with twelve therapy offices — each one home to a psychologist with their own specialized expertise. What began as a one-person dream has grown into a vibrant community of clinicians, clients, and creativity.
The walls are still filled with laughter (and, every now and then, a few tears), but there's finally enough room for every voice to be heard. From play-based therapy rooms to calm, quiet spaces, every office is designed with care — a reflection of our belief that healing begins somewhere that feels safe, welcoming, and just a little bit inspiring.
Our Sister Company
Along Came NU Psychology.
While Creative Sky specializes in supporting children, teens, and families, we know that adults deserve expert, compassionate care just as much. That's why we opened NU Psychology — our dedicated clinic for adult and teen mental health, located in building #4, right beside Creative Sky.
NU Psychology offers specialized support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, eating disorders, trauma, and life and career transitions. With the same strengths-based, narrative approach, their team helps clients rewrite the stories that no longer serve them — and write new ones full of possibility.
Our Team
Strength in Numbers.
Our Creative Sky family has grown from one to twelve in just three years. We're a collaborative team of Calgary psychologists who get to learn from each other, train together, and celebrate every milestone along the way — and the more we learn, the more our clients do too.
Our office has picked up a nickname over the years — "The Good Vibes Office" — and honestly, we love it. There's laughter in the halls most days, and a genuine warmth between us that families tend to feel the moment they walk in.
Meet Faith Anne
Our Vibing Office Manager.
Faith Anne is the heart of our office — the person who makes everything run smoothly while keeping our space welcoming and comfortable for clients and psychologists alike. She's often the first friendly voice or smile you'll encounter, and her thoughtful communication helps set the tone for the supportive, approachable care we value at our clinic.
Behind the scenes, Faith Anne is our "prefrontal cortex" — anticipating needs, thinking two steps ahead, and implementing ideas that help our team thrive. She keeps our psychologists organized, our office flowing, and our clients feeling cared for. Whether she's brainstorming solutions, supporting a new initiative, or quietly making things better in the background, Faith Anne is the glue that holds our culture together.
Beyond her role as Office Manager, Faith Anne brings her positive energy and amazing personality into everything she does. A certified Pilates instructor, she's passionate about movement and balance, which shines through in the way she supports others with kindness, clarity, and calm. Faith Anne is not just a wonderful teammate but also a wonderful friend — someone who makes both our workplace and our client experience better every single day.
Meet Lori Zak
Controller & Operations Manager.
Lori wears two hats at the Creative Sky Psychology clinic — part-time Controller and part-time Operations Manager — and somehow makes it all look effortless. She's the steady presence behind the systems, budgets, and bookkeeping that keep everything on track, while also bringing structure, reliability, and fun to our team. Lori is our backbone: supportive, steady, and always making sure things get done.
With her sharp eye for numbers (well, everything) and knack for systems, Lori manages budgets with care and precision — always keeping us mindful of how to spend wisely. She keeps Shannon in line (as best she can), keeps our operations humming, and still laughs easily along the way. Her blend of directness and humour makes her a natural leader — someone who can navigate the details without losing sight of the big picture.
Outside of work, Lori lives the balance she brings into the office. She loves yoga, working out, travelling, and golfing, and brings the same energy and focus to her hobbies that she does to managing our operations. Fun but structured, reliable yet medium-easy going, Lori cares deeply about both our team and our clients — and we just couldn't imagine Creative Sky without her. She also has a real job and doesn't sleep!
